Your pets are welcome too! A snack bar on site and a free car park make the visit to this must-see of the Gulf of Morbihan a pleasant one.

Take a 5-minute crossing from Port-Blanc in Baden to reach the Île aux Moines, one of the best tourist attractions in the Gulf of Morbihan!

The island has 23 km of trails suitable for hiking or cycling. Do not miss the Pointe de Nioul and the Pointe du Trec’h for superb views.

Also discover the park of the Guerric castle, the Pen Hap dolmen and the Kergonan megalithic site.

3. Vannes, a lively historic heart

Stroll through the cobbled lanes of Vannes, the famous Gallo-Roman town, and admire its city walls, the Porte Saint-Vincent and its half-timbered houses. Do not miss the harbour and its lively quaysides, or the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre with its Gothic style.

Also step into La Cohue to visit the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Vannes. Finally, discover the Centre d’Interprétation de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine (CIAP), housed in the Hôtel de Limur since 2022.

4. The Île d’Arz, island of the captains

Would you like an authentic and off-the-beaten-track visit to the Gulf of Morbihan? Explore the Île d’Arz, nicknamed the island of captains, and discover two treasures there:

  • The Berno tide mill, built by the monks of the priory of Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys before the 16th century. Several types of guided visits are organised by the Île d’Arz town council.
  • The Marins et Capitaines museum, open from Wednesday to Sunday, 1 pm to 5.30 pm, between April and September.

5. The beaches of the Rhuys peninsula

In Brittany, enjoy the fine sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast or the coves on the Gulf side. Among the places to visit in the Gulf of Morbihan, three beaches on the Rhuys peninsula stand out:

  • Goh Velin beach: accessible for people with reduced mobility, supervised, with children’s play equipment, perfect for family outings.
  • Suscinio beach: with a superb view of the castle of the same name, its car park and easy access.
  • Penvins beach: watched over by the Notre Dame de la Côte chapel, popular with water sports and kite-flying enthusiasts.

6. The stone giants of Locmariaquer

Leave your luxury campsite in the Gulf of Morbihan to discover the Locmariaquer megalithic site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2025.

It brings together three major monuments: the Grand Menhir Brisé, the Er Grah burial mound and the Table des Marchands dolmen.

For this stop on the tour of the must-see sights of the Gulf of Morbihan, allow 1.5 hours and note that visitors under 26 can explore this site for free.

Address: route du Ménec, 56740 Locmariaquer. Opening hours: vary with the seasons, but the site is generally open from 10 am to 12.30 pm and from 2 pm to 5.30 pm.

7. The Île Tascon, an adventure on foot

At low tide, you can reach the Île de Tascon via a 400-metre submersible causeway, revealing a unique landscape: meadows, rocky foreshore and salt marshes.

Watch the birds and discover the family farm, where you can buy short-supply-chain produce (seasonal vegetables, eggs, Charolais beef…).

Tip: check the tide times before you set off. This gives you 4 hours of peaceful walking without the risk of being cut off.

8. La Semaine du Golfe, a unique maritime festival

Every two years, during Ascension week, the Gulf of Morbihan comes alive! More than 1,000 traditional boats sail from port to port during the Semaine du Golfe. Each stopover offers concerts, exhibitions, tastings…

The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the grand final parade. A friendly and authentic experience to enjoy in Brittany!

9. Local flavours, a festival for the taste buds

Spending a holiday in one of our destinations in Morbihan is the perfect opportunity to discover the flavours of Brittany. You cannot leave without tasting the oysters of the Quiberon bay or the mussels of Pénestin, often eaten right at the producers, such as at the Viviers de Banastère in Sarzeau.

For something sweet, try a Far Breton with prunes or the sablés from the Biscuiterie des Menhirs in Erdeven. To go with your meals, order a Royal Guillevic cider or a craft beer from the Brasserie La Belle Joie.

10. The GR34, the customs officers’ path

Lace up your hiking boots and set off to discover the GR 34, the coastal path that follows more than 2,000 km of Breton coastline. This section is open all year round!
