Camping Porte de Provence is a 4-star campsite with 100 pitches in Mirmande, in the Drôme Provençale, between Montélimar and the Drôme valley. Surrounded by wooded hills and crossed by a small stream, it prides itself on its human scale, family atmosphere and genuine peace and quiet: it is not a club campsite, and evenings end at 11 pm.
Accommodation ranges from shady pitches of 70 to 100 m², some with private bathrooms, to air-conditioned mobile homes with 2 or 3 bedrooms, a dishwasher and a covered terrace. One mobile home is adapted for guests with reduced mobility.
The centrepiece is the stone Provençal farmhouse (mas), with its large terrace, plancha grill and private pool, designed for large families and groups of friends looking for calm. The campsite is run by Laetitia and Eddy.
The snack bar and restaurant, a few steps from the pool, serves traditional and Provençal cooking made with local produce, with a children’s menu and vegetarian dishes. It opens in the evening from early May to the end of September, and in the afternoon in July and August. Every Tuesday, the mussels-and-chips night is followed by a dance evening.
The campsite has a small grocery, fresh bread and pastries, a laundry room with washing machines and a dryer, a TV room, baby equipment hire, gas refills and free Wi-Fi across the site. Electric vehicle drivers can use a 22 kW charging point, and motorhomes have a waste disposal point. Pets are welcome on a lead.
In July and August, a kids’ club for 5 to 12-year-olds, run by bilingual staff, offers crafts, painting and treasure hunts, mostly outdoors. Families can also enjoy a playground, a trampoline, table tennis, a pool table, table football and football and volleyball pitches. In the evening: karaoke, bingo, quizzes and a live band once a week.
Through partners, the campsite organises a weekly 7 km canoe trip on the Drôme river and a morning of tree-top adventure in the Robin forest, 4 km away. Nearby, the hilltop village of Mirmande, the Cliousclat pottery 6 km away, Grignan castle, the Facteur Cheval’s Ideal Palace and the ViaRhôna cycle route make for a fine programme of discoveries.
